St. Nina Mission, located in Berea, Kentucky, was established in the summer of 2021 with the blessing of Archbishop Alexander to serve Orthodox Christians along the I-75 Corridor south of Lexington. Initially meeting in homes and later bi-monthly at the Berea Friends House, the mission faced challenges due to its itinerant nature.
In March 2024, with support from our mother parish, the mission secured a semi-permanent location in a 1,000 sq. foot storefront in north Berea, where we began holding services every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. The mission is led by Archpriest Justin Patterson, assisted by Archpriest David Thatcher and Fr. Giorgi Lomsadze. A Mission Council, whose current warden is Oma Lopes, also supports the mission’s activities.
Our St. Nina community is excited to begin growing roots locally and to develop ministries that go beyond worship services and Christian fellowship. Stay tuned for more to come as we grow!
